Character Creation
In What Remains of Paradise, you may choose to play as either a cat or a dog who grew up in the wasteland left behind by the humans. While almost any breeds will be allowed, all characters must be descended from domesticated species, at least on one side. Meaning wolfdogs, savanna cats, and coyote mixes will be allowed, but wolves, coyotes, and big cats will not. Your character need not have a specific breed if you don't want to, we encourage creativity!
If your character is a feline, they may be anywhere from 6 months old to 10 years old, and may be a maximum of 16" at the shoulder.
If your character is a canine, they may be anywhere from 6 months to 12 years old, and may be as tall as 28" at the shoulder.
You will have 26 points to distribute between Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Charisma, and Speed. If you are a cat, you may add either +1 to Speed, or +1 to Dexterity. If you are a dog, you may add either +1 Strength or +1 Charisma. You may not have more than a 10 in any stat for any reason.
Your character must have at least 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses as well. These may be physical or mental, be it a poor climbing ability, a fear of heights, or insecurity about a scar.
Any gender or sexuality is allowed in characters
Most accessories will be allowed in WRoP, within reason. Anything a character could have reasonably found among abandoned human objects is fair game. The only exceptions to this rule being accessories of cultural significance to specific cultures, and as such, the following accessories will not be acceptable: feathers, dream catchers, "tribal" face paint/tattoos and bones worn on the body. We reserve the right to add more items to this list if such an issue is brought up to us.
We encourage players to truly take advantage of the radioactive setting when making characters. Cosmetic mutations from the pollution are allowed and encouraged. Multiple features like eyes or ears, split tails, features unusual for the species like antlers, and even vestigial body parts and plant and fungi like mutations would be allowed. As long as the mutations do not give your character an obvious advantage, just about anything goes! However it should be kept in mind that any strengths or weaknesses brought on by the mutations must be matched by stats. If you have a character with two tails who is meant to be agile due to their tails giving them good balance, this is not something that will be reflected in rolls unless the character is given high dexterity.
At the end of the day, stats and stated modifiers will be the only factors taken into account when dice are rolled
